Opt. W.W. Tharindhu D. Fernando
Tharindhu Fernando has more than 16 years of paramedical and academic experience. His major fields of interest are Iridology, Holistic Healing, Optometry, and Psychology.
Tharindhu is a Certified Comprehensive Iridologist and a Certified Iridology Instructor with the International Iridology Practitioners Association (IIPA). He was the first and only South Asian to become qualified as a Certified International Iridology Instructor.
He was awarded “The IIPA Instructor of the Year in 2018” at the 14th Annual IIPA Symposium. He was the first ever Asian who got this prestigious award. He was awarded “The Iridologist of the Year Award” – the most prestigious award of IIPA at the 15th IIPA Symposium in 2019.
Tharindhu has teaching experience in Optometry, Iridology, General Science and Anatomy and Physiology. He is an excellent speaker at local and international forums including World Congresses, and Asian Congresses. He is a speaker of the World Symposium of International Iridology Practitioners’ Association.
Tharindhu is the Founder President of Sri Lanka Iridology Association, Chairman of Ceylon Optometry and Iridology Academy, Ceylon Sujok & Naturopathy Center and Healthy Eyes – Eye, Diabetic & Holistic Clinic. He is a member of the Board of Directors of International Iridology Practitioners’ Association (IIPA). He is a Member of The British Council for Complementary Therapies.
Tharindhu works hard to uplift the standards of health sector in Sri Lanka and also a focal point of the movement to achieve Sustainable Development Goals declared by the United Nations in 2015. He is a National Advisory Coordinator of Sustainable Development Goals Youth Net Sri Lanka. He was awarded the honorary title “Sustainable Goodwill Ambassador” by the Sri Lanka United Nations Friendship Organization in 2021.
Considering his hard work towards the SDGs he was appointed as Consul General for Civil Relations in Sri Lanka at International Commission of Diplomatic Relations Human Rights and Peace and Consul General for Civil Relations in Sri Lanka at Council of Inter-Parliament Organizations therefore, given the honorable title “His Excellency.”
Tharindhu is also given the title “Sevashuree” by the Sri Lanka United Nations Friendship Organization to appreciate his humanitarian work. And is the Chairman of the organizing committee of the Asian Congress of Iridology.
